“Christmas is less than what it can be – and less than what it was intended to be – where gifts are given grudgingly, and where gifts are received without appreciation.”

I was unsure if I wanted to use this quote for the project, because I don’t believe it is completely true but this quote lends itself well to a thought I had last Sunday during church service.  To do something out of love is to celebrate Christmas, but to do something out of obligation is to celebrate this world.  It seems to me that much of what we do during the month of December – the gifts, the cookies, the decorating, the parties – is done because we “have to” do it.  Forcing ourselves to partake in celebrations solely because we “have to” only increases the stress of Christmas, decreases the happiness of Christmas…
