John 18:15-18

Jesus has just been hauled off, kidnapped, by the religious authorities. The disciples are afraid and scatter. Some follow at at distance and Peter is one of them. It states that a disciple was with Jesus when he was taken into the area outside the temple. Peter was later allowed in by the High Priest’s servant. There are two players in this, the disciple that stood with Jesus and Peter. We are not told his name. As Peter was being allowed entry to warm by a fire. One of the servants asked Peter, “You also are not one of this man’s disciples, are you?” Peter went neutral and responded, “I am not.” Peter made a decision at that moment. He was not prepared. He denied knowing Jesus, yet the other disciple was in the midst of the situation with Jesus. What is this saying to us? If we really love…
