WorldSpace radio was terminated in December, four years ago. Listening to the radio hasn’t been the same since then. We used to wake up and tune in to channel 232 – Shruti – the channel which aired well curated pieces of Carnatic classical music – no ads selling apartments, jewellery or silk sarees. After we left for school, my mother would often change the channel to Sparsha(103), sometimes to Farista(45), Jhankaar(42) or even Radio Madhuri(103) or Spandana(107). One of these would still be playing when I returned from school and would go on till dinner time when the TV would be switched on. Post dinner, WorldSpace would be on again till the shows ended for the day which was around 11.
