and it was all
a golden glaze of tinsel hippies
and Father Christmas
arriving in a helicopter.
and it was all
an almost authentic attempt
at expensive simplicity
and his boots did not get muddy
and the little elf’s earrings
flashed in a strobe sequence of delirium
together with the teasing,
tinselated smile.
and it was all
extravagantly accessorised
and traditionally ritualised
well wishing:
on a temporary basis.
and it was all
trying to establish net worth
based on perfect teeth
and glossy smiles.
and it was all
the moody morning after
trying to remember
the reason.
